Synopsis

Based on true family events and now a repped screenplay - a poignant love story set on turbulent home front America in the shadow of the antisemitism and racism of the 1940s - two strangers caught up in the desperation of a country fighting for democracy abroad but facing deep seated hate and intolerance at home.

Fiercely proud, idealistic, small town Bobbie Feinman travels to Miami Beach and finds herself in the middle of a military buildup in 1943. Against her better judgment, she falls for Murray, a charming but complicated young Army Air Corps soldier from Brooklyn with horrific memories as a child in WW1 Poland. As they struggle thru a hurried marriage, silences, doubt and misunderstanding play out against a backdrop of antisemitism and racism. They coast along the quicksand of their hurried vows, until one day in a Raleigh diner, as two black soldiers are denied service, Bobbie begins to see past the silences and doubt. When Murray finally leaves on a troop ship for England, convinced he won't be coming home from war, Bobbie reflects on her short time with this stranger she calls 'husband' and wonders what a life together might be like if.....
An epilogue is set in 1994.
