The series concentrates on the technology and avoids lengthy descriptive passages, leaving the description to the author's very detailed drawings. Volume 4 completes the coverage of construction technology. It covers, in more detail, the techniques introduced in volume 3 which are used in the construction of larger buildings. The coverage of services is left to more specialised publications. The book covers site works topics such as electricity and lighting on site and groundwater control; deep basements; principles and applications of prestressed concrete; curtain walling; internal finishes and decorations; and builder's plant such as earthmoving and excavation plant and concrete mixers and pumps.
