"Most New Zealand artificial flies, as the author explains, were derived originally from English and Scottish patterns. But the entomology and conditions to be found in New Zealand, not to mention the inventive genius of its anglers, have led to the development of a strong indigenous fly-tying tradition. After a fascinating chapter on entomology for the angler, Keith Draper lists first of all Taupo and Canterbury lures, then wet and dry flies, and finally nymphs.
