Many years ago, I was one of those naive expectant mothers who thought that a simple formula of faith, love and discipline would produce the perfect child. Those who had a problem child, I surmised, either didn't have enough religion in their home, didn't love their child enough or didn't discipline him/her enough. So when, much to my dismay and perplexity, my child began to display chronic problem behaviors I blamed myself. Mary Wuestefeld is a preschool teacher in Paradise, California and has been working with children in various capacities for almost 20 years now. She has three children of her own- Daniel, Melissa and Jason - and is married to Kent, a fifth grade teacher.
