Synopsis

When 15-year-old Alyson and her family, including her Arabian mare, Chiquita, move to a ranch in the countryside of California, Alyson is less than thrilled. When she meets three new friends, her hopes of finding somewhere to continue her dressage training are shattered. They introduce Alyson and Chiquita to the world of rodeo, namely barrel racing, a world far different from the English showing she used to do. Over the course of training for the rodeo at the end of the summer, Alyson realizes that everything is a lot harder and much more different than she thought. She must push through an emotional rollercoaster of social problems while getting Chiquita ready for the rodeo.

Biographie de l'auteur

Rachel Hector was born in St. Louis, MO in 1986, but has lived most of her life in California. She now resides in the rodeo town of Salinas and is dedicated to horses.
