Uma Parameswaran was born in India and has lived in Canada since 1966. She has worked with women?s organizations, and is on the faculty of the University of Winnipeg. Her earlier fiction includes award-winning What was Always Hers, The Sweet Smell of Mother?s Milk-Wet Bodice, and Mangoes on the Maple Tree. She is married to a mathematician and they have a married daughter.
