In 1861, Tom Calvert and his wife, Mary, are raising their thirteen-year-old son Jack on the expansive Bar T Ranch near San Antonio, Texas. They've come to Texas to escape the bigotry of Virginia aristocrats. Duty to a friend compels Tom to answer the call to war, and he rides back to Virginia and an uncertain future.During Tom's six-year absence, Mary and Jack tend to the ranch, praying for a swift end to the War. Their prayer is not shared by Jack's friend, Jamie Blanchard, who, determined to be a hero in his father's eyes, yearns to fight for the Confederate cause. In 1864, at age nineteen, Jamie gives up his job at the Bar T, enlists, and rides for Vicksburg and glory.Tom returns to the Bar T at the end of the war only to be struck down by fate's cruel hand. That blow sends Jack on a ride for justice. In 1867 near the border town of Lookout, Texas, Jack confronts the adversary whose bloody hand has touched the lives of the three men from the Bar T, but not before Jack finds love and faces his own unique heritage.Ride for Justice tells the tale of three men at a time in history in the west that was highlighted by challenge, change, and the grim realities of war.
