On December 10, 1941, in the aftermath of the Japanese attacks on the Philippines, young, lean, and strong United States Navy Lieutenant Allen Moore maneuvers his speeding torpedo boat into Manila Bay. Cavite Navy Yard is heavily damaged, and the ships at anchor are smoldering. Moore, along with Executive Officer Charles Osborne and Chief Petty Officer Maxwell Thomas, are bent on playing a significant role in the burgeoning war. Bombing of nearby airfields has left the American military with only a few planes operational to strike back at the enemy. The three men are eager to learn what the Navy has in mind for them and equally anxious to know the fate of the women they left behind. In this compelling drama following the parallel adventures of the sailors and their sweethearts during the first months of war, as the Japanese push the allies farther south in the Pacific, author Roger Bares offers the fictional exploits of the wartime PT 8, the men who knew and loved her as the Eight Boat, and the women who loved the men.
