Deja(Ghost of the 35th)SummaryWho is Jed McDaniel? Modern day Gettysburg, Pennsylvania, site of one of the most famous and decisive battles of the Civil War, is once again thrust into the limelight when a young man is struck by a car and then awakens at the Gettysburg Hospital to reveal himself as a member of the Georgia 35th infantry of the Army of the Confederacy. Over a number of days, he reveals details about the activities and pending mission of his outfit that is frighteningly accurate when compared to historical facts of the battle that occurred there the first three days of July, 1863. Attempts to identify the man by the attending medical staff, aided by the local police and the F.B.I., proceed agonizingly slow. Dr. Charles (Chuck) Foxworth, a psychiatrist, and Dr. Steven Juhan, a neurosurgeon, enlist the professional help of Dr. Katarina Schindler, a paranormal psychologist from Duke University in Durham, North Carolina, to help unravel the mystery. Woven into the background story are the histories of the McDaniel, Juhan, Langley and Lowry families and how their stories intertwine through the centuries and come to play a part in the life of the possible time traveler known only as Jed McDaniel. It is also the story of the love affair that joins two professionals in matrimony after their serendipitous meeting to identify the mysterious stranger. It culminates with the publication of the work Deja, based on their experiences with Jed McDaniel. Twenty years after the strangers' mysterious disappearance, on the anniversary of the famous Pennsylvania battle, the shocking true identity of Jed McDaniel is made to the entire assemblage. Join the author as he recounts his personal family history through a combination of genealogical facts and historically accurate fiction.
