Synopsis

****"Taut, lean, direct, unadorned, stunning, un-unreadable, this story of courage and love quietly becomes the Human Story of Courage and Love. I finished the last pages, thanked the Coherent Mercy for putting me in this bruised and blessed world, and called my dad. "Brian Doyle, author of Thirsty for the Joy: Australian & American Voices."****ABOUT THE BOOK: As much a love story as a tale of WWII, Everyman's War is based on true events. It builds to one of the decisive confrontations of the Battle of the Bulge when early on the morning of Jan 20th, 1945 German infantry overran the American lines outside the town of Nennig during Hitler's last massive assault on allied forces. It is the story of Staff Sergeant Donald Smith of the 94th Infantry Division and tells of friendships forged and the importance of hope as men face death, loss and the choices which demand courage of will and sacrifice.
