A courageous and compelling account of Tibetan history and the activities of the current Dalai Lama that stand in stark contrast to popular perceptions of a 'holy' politician. With an extensive compilation of news stories, documents, personal accounts, and chronologies, a tangle of religion and politics is revealed. This conflict between religion and politics plays out in Tibetan exile communities and across the international stage. Representatives of the Dalai Lama organise groups to defame, threaten, and sometimes physically harm Shugden practioners. In this way many Shugden Temples have been closed and shrines destroyed. Also individual's houses have been burnt down, Shugden practioners have been brutally beaten, children banned from their schools, and monks expelled from their monasteries - 900 in February 2008 alone. Shugden practioners are repeatedly accused of being 'the Tibetian national enemy' and ostracised from their communities. This inhumane treatment directly violates basic human rights and principles of democratic law; but it nevertheless pervades the East and West.
The Western Shugden Society is the English language division of the International Shugden Community, a coalition of spiritual practitioners of the enlightened Deity Dorje Shugden.
