Synopsis

Is it the truth? Is it fair to all concerned? Will it build goodwill and better friendships? Will it be beneficial to all concerned? The Four-Way Test of Rotary International has guided the Rotary Club of Dallas for over 100 years and has led to remarkable results. The City of Dallas owes a great debt of gratitude for the service of tens of thousands of Dallas Rotarians. From schools, buildings, parks and roads to charitable programs in the community, the Club has had an enormous impact. This book not only details the history of the Rotary Club of Dallas, but of the city itself. Seven mayors in 10 decades were members of the Club as were leaders in every industry from construction, architecture and real estate, to banking, publishing and funeral homes. Their compelling stories paint a picture of shared vision, compassion and philanthropy that few other organizations can match. For those who are not familiar with Rotary or its members, this book will read like a Who's-Who of famous and influential Dallasites. It answers many of those "I wonder why?" questions and brings to life a rich history with quotes, personal stories and anecdotes collected over the past century. With hundreds of pictures illustrating its nearly 400 pages, the book is treasure for anyone interested in the history of Dallas, Texas or Rotary in Texas.
