Synopsis

“Doug Hewitt is a resourceful magician of speculative tales who conjures up wildly scientific scenarios, twists them into disturbing nightmares, and plunges the reader into a spiraling vortex of runaway dark suspense. His stuff is the literary equivalent of a bungee jump at midnight with a frayed cord – on the edge danger and dark motives. Nothing is sacred and no one is safe in Hewitt’s world, and never has that been more apparent than his newest novel, Raising Khane. You will never again feel safe on the streets after meeting up with the three rogues in the opening chapter. Their bizarre actions will suck you in, the same way the unfortunate young woman is pulled into their trap. More great chills and thrills from this up-and-coming, hard-charging author.” Jeff Dennis, Editor/Publisher “Vivid writing and memorable characters, including some particularly creepy villians, drew me into the story of mysterious destruction and sweeping madness in Raising Khane by Doug Hewitt. Doug’s easy but vibrant style makes the book a pleasure to read.” Karen McCullough, author of Blue December, The Night Prowlers, and Programmed for Danger About Raising Khane: “Raising Khane is fast-paced and promises frightening surprises along the way.” Lisa Jean Bothell, editor Heliocentric Net Magazine

À propos de l'auteur

Doug Hewitt is an internationally published author who has written in wide range of speculative fiction genres. Regardless of genre, Doug Hewitt knew he was destined to write at an early age. “It’s when I turned in a 57-page story for a 2-page writing assignment in the eighth grade,” he said. The fact that his teacher gave his story a D- (he wrote parts in pencil, and the instructions specified ink) only made him more determined. After high school, Doug Hewitt attended Kalamazoo College and the University of Michigan, majoring mathematics, including a semester of foreign study in Germany and an internship at National Institutes of Health, before heading off for 4 years in the U.S. Marine Corps and earning degrees from the University of North Carolina. Doug’s military background gives him unique insights into military mindsets, which he finds useful when authoring alien invasion novels as part of his M World Chronicles. Doug Hewitt began his writing career with short stories in science fiction and fantasy genres for magazines, including: • Apex Digest • Visions • Delirium • Random Realities • The Midnight Gallery • PLOT Magazine Turning to larger markets, Doug Hewitt began seeing his speculative fiction short stories appear in anthologies such as: • 100 Wicked Little Witch Stories • The Dead Inn • Nasty Snips • The Asylum, Volume 3 • Nightbird Singing in the Dead of Night • More Monsters from Memphis He turned his attention to longer works of suspense and mystery, including the novels SPEAR and The Dead Guy. Most recently, Doug Hewitt has returned to writing science fiction. He started by reprinting the best of his science fiction short stories in the collection Mental State. Expanding on the science fiction theme, Doug Hewitt authored his own brand of science fiction alien invasion novels with Raising Khane. When asked recently about the characters in Raising Khane, Doug said, “Characters in any novel are more than fictitious creations. They are alive. They exist in a world of imagination and have an impact on the world. A young boy can be inspired to search for truth by Superman; a young girl can envision nature’s wonder in the Limberlost. Not all the characters in Raising Khane survive, but they continue to have an imact.” Doug is currently working on a series of science fiction novels, beginning with Frame of Mind. These novels will be published in the series The M World Chronicles, in which alien invasions can be both subtle and deadly.
