"Smelling the Roses: Memoir of an Irish Philosopher", by Mervyn Brady, is the story of a spiritual teacher's childhood journey, told in his own humorous and eloquent words, with insightful commentary by those who loved him. By turns hilarious and heart-wrenching, intellectual and inspiring, Mervyn Brady's story celebrates the life and legacy of a man who started out a mischievous boy running with a scrappy gang of urchins on the streets of Dublin and ended up a beloved philosopher leading a community of spiritual seekers from the U.S., Mexico, the U.K., Australia and South Africa. "Smelling the Roses" takes us on the personal journey of one of the most beautiful and evolved human beings to grace our complicated world. Whether you had the good fortune to know him, or will meet him for the first time in these pages, you will certainly be enchanted by Mervyn's stories and his wisdom. And perhaps you will also feel a certain joy and the relief that comes from finally meeting someone who really understands us, as individuals and as one, as we move along on our spiritual journeys.

Mervyn Brady was a friend, teacher, and mentor - beloved by many around the world. From the moment when he experienced a profound awakening of his soul, Mervyn dedicated his life to sharing his understanding of how to find and keep a Divine connection alive within the complexities of our lives. Through his example, he showed us that our place in the world, our time on this planet, has great meaning. In 1989, Mervyn founded The Academy of European Art and Culture, a school dedicated to disseminating and preserving the tremendous contributions of our forefathers. He spoke passionately about the spiritual treasures of the Western world which had lay buried for centuries in Europe. Through his many presentations on religion, art, music, philosophy, poetry and mysticism, he illuminated this knowledge for many souls. Starting first in London, then moving to Los Angeles, Mervyn eventually established an International school which spread from Europe across the United States and Mexico. Recently new groups have been added in Sydney and Johannesburg. Mervyn Brady, our beloved friend who had worked tirelessly serving others, died in Mexico City in 2006 at the age of 58.
