Synopsis

With his new global operating system a reality, Alex Greenlee will soon be king of cyberspace, leaving Apple and Microsoft in the dust. Alex, his wife, Jennifer, and their son, Simon, live on a private island sanctuary near Seattle. Today Alex and Jennifer depart for Europe to partner with a major player. It’s the deal of the century and his dream will give Alex enormous power. Eleven-year-old Simon remains on the island under the care of a housekeeper, a trusted associate, and the boy’s summer camp counselor. Briliant Simon spends most days at his computer and resists every effort to wean him from the Web. His addiction to cyberspace has left little room in his young soul for love and compassion. Unknown to the Greenlees, sinister forces are at work on the island to right a long ago injustice. Caught in the middle is a young boy who is the key to unlocking the past. How far can Simon be bent before he breaks and opens the way to his father’s downfall? Only when thrust into raw nature and fleeing for his life does Simon regain his capacity to feel real emotion and take decisive action. À propos de l'auteur

Born in New York City, Peter Dixon was a bi-coastal kid as his father, a writer, and his actor mother shuttled between New York and Los Angeles. His love for the ocean is a natural result of beginning to surf when he was in high school, lifeguarding on Los Angeles beaches through graduate school, and beach life in Malibu, California, with his wife, Sarah, and their three children. Finding a career as a human factors scientist in a Santa Monica, California, “think tank” not to his taste, he turned to writing. The Complete Book of Surfing was the first widely read book on that wet and wild sport. He wrote the first Flipper television script, and several others for the series, followed by dozens of prime time teleplays while turning out twenty-nine published books. His recent novel Hunting the Dragon reflects his deep involvement with the sea and marine conservation. Attention, Les Enfants Regardent, The Children Are Watching, written with Laird Koenig, was translated into seven languages, and was awarded best thriller of the year in France. Alain Delon produced and starred in the motion picture. C@UGHT IN THE WEB brings to life Dixon’s concern that TV and the Internet, while offering much of value, are also often a destructive force in the lives of children. He asks, if parents fail to open a child’s life to the wider world of nature how will they learn to care for our earth and have compassion for one another?
