Included here is the ground-breaking essay, "Writing Backwards: The Novels of William Hope Hodgson" that led to a completely new evaluation of Hodgson's novels with the revolutionary claim that THE NIGHT LAND was actually the FIRST novel that Hodgson ever wrote! An in-depth investigation of Hodgson's infamous with Harry Houdini in 1902 is the subject of "Houdini v Hodgson: The Blackburn Challenge". This collection provides a foundation for further criticism and study of Hodgson's life and career.

À propos de l'auteur

Sam Gafford has been studying and writing about William Hope Hodgson since 1992. In the 1990's, his small press published many forgotten and uncollected essays and stories by Hodgson and he has contributed articles about Hodgson to several magazines. His primary goal has been to promote Hodgson to a wider reading audience and works towards establishing a greater understanding of this forgotten writer. Since 2012, Gafford has been posting regularly about Hodgson at THE WILLIAM HOPE HODGSON BLOG (wordpress) and is currently working on a critical biography of Hodgson.
