John Ridley is a graduate student in English Literature and when looking into the origins of an ancient English ballad, he discovers a surprising connection to his own past. As a result, he soon finds himself on a journey of self-discovery and investigation that leads him to Ontario, Canada and then to England and Scotland, as he slowly begins to unravel a mystery that is 500 years old. At the heart of the mystery is The Raven Stone, a mystery which remains hidden until the very end. Although a work of fiction, this novel is infused with many allusions to historical events and people that will often leave the reader wondering about its authentic nature as it takes you on a romantic adventure that is fraught with medieval castles, ghosts, battling knights, religious persecution and political intrigue. Those fascinated with the study of genealogy will immediately find a connection with the main character, who soon finds himself unable to let go of the past, as he is constantly invigorated by each new revelation.
