Synopsis

The fifth in the Biblical Controversies series, Controversies in the Acts of the Apostles deals with questions relating to the historicity of the accounts in Acts, the debate over spiritual gifts, succession of apostles, and many others. What is the Samaritan Pentecost? Did the apostles worship on Sunday? Is the baptism of the Spirit different from the Filling of the Holy Spirit? Additionally, questions concerning the post-Biblical lives of the apostles are debated. Was Peter crucified in Rome? Was he the first pope? Quotations from the early Church Fathers, medieval scholars, and modern theologians are infused in the debates. The various theories, opinions, and evidences are presented along with the author's own conclusions. Featuring nearly a thousand end notes Controversies in the Acts of the Apostles is a valuable addition to Acts commentaries and textbooks.
