Preface My heart initially housed the words that make up this book. But at a particular stage I could no longer keep the words in my heart: the light was too bright to be kept....I had to pen down the thoughts hell bent on making themselves known to all. Every time I took my pen to write, satisfaction emerged within me.....It was like a mother delivering a baby. Most of the time, the end of a poem from its beginning was not known, but at the end of each poen, doffing my fedora hat was required .My aim was clear... "My poems must illuminate the world." Inspirations for all poems were generated either internally or externally. Legends like Nelson Mandela, Martin Luther King Jr. and Madam Ekundayo provoked external inspiration. When I started writing the poems, I thought it was for the future, but meeting a special creature (Susanna Catherine Mahoney) made me realize the future is now. She is the earthly angel sent me by God to ensure I utilize my potential. I specifically included this (Writing Season) to encourage all writers and readers never to hide their potential; never to accept any limitation. THE FUTURE IS NOW! Live in the reality of the future today. Poetry is food for the soul. The Light Bearer is a collection of poems born out of inspiration, reflection and expression .A good poem has a good message that heals the soul and body .Poems are written coherently just to ensure that all readers are able to feed on it, understand it ,digest it and reproduce(make use of it) when the need arises. The beauty of poetry is beyond description, it is the product of out-flowing emotions. When you are down, allow poetry lift you up. When all hope is lost, allow poetry speak hope to your life. When you feel rejected, allow poetry embrace you. When your dreams seem to be fading, allow poetry spark up some passion. When your strength is intimidated, allow poetry re-awaken your zeal. about the Author . . . Kolade Olanrewaju Freedom Kolade is a young Nigerian whose story will never be complete without mentioning the odds that made him. He adopts the nick "Freedom" to emphasize that his literary works are oblivious to restriction and destructive criticism. His academic life is still quite young but he possesses the mind of an academic scholar. He is blessed with the pen and desires to bless his world with it.He writes to educate, illuminate, transform, inform, comfort and entertain. His writings are grouped into three categories: inspiration, reflection and expression. He is rigid to injustice but flexible to humanity. He holds no special care for physical appearance; his mind he desires to renew and care for daily. Freedom has featured in international anthologies such as United We Stand, April Rains and Twist of Fate.
