Monice - poet, playwright, journalist, screenwriter and novelist - has been happily living by her pen since she wrote her first poem for her mom at the age of seven. An eclectic wordsmith, she holds a BA in journalism from Wayne State University, a MFA from Columbia College Chicago and has reported for numerous magazines and newspapers. Monice is also an award-winning playwright and filmmaker, who wrote, directed and produced the films, "Carmin's Choice" and "Rain" for Showtime. A published author, she penned "Address: House of Corrections" - the first in a trilogy exploring her mother's, grandmother's and great-grandmother's lives. Monice lives in South Pasadena, California with her loving husband where she is writing "The Mailman's Daughter, " the second novel in the series. She also mentors and teaches creative writing to girls in prison for Write Girl, a 2013 National Arts and Humanities Youth Program Awards winner. Written as a gift for her nieces, "Nana's Fridge" is Monice's first children's book. But now that she has been bitten by the bug, hopefully, it won't be her last.
