Synopsis

VeriTalks Volume 4, Certainty, is adapted from The 2013 Veritas Forum at Caltech. In it, Troy Van Voorhis, Professor of Chemistry at MIT, shows how our convictions—the things about which we are absolutely certain—govern our behavior. But the scientific method can only lead to varying degrees of confidence, never to absolute certainty. So where do we find the certainty necessary to live bold and decisive lives? Van Voorhis shows how faith can bridge the gap between confidence and certainty. Along the way he answers student questions about science and faith such as: Hasn’t science proven there is no truth? Isn’t certainty dangerous? Why rely on Jesus to change your behavior?
