A magnificent rugby account of the famous 1906/07 Springboks tour to the British Isles, pieced together from the diaries of the South African vice-captain, H.W. ("Paddy") Carolin. Carolin recorded events on and off the pitch in letters to the sports editor of the Cape Times, L.A. Cox. These letters form the basis of this diary. There is also a short biography of Carolin and additional information about the tour. First Edition. 4to. 235pp. Lavishly illustrated throughout. Dust-wrappers, very good. No.618 of a Limited Edition of 1000 copies, signed by the publisher and one of the compilers. [Jenkins, E157]
