Synopsis
Best Friends tells heart-warming stories of animals that make good friends with other animals who might normally be considered as enemies. This difference in behaviour arises from a desire to be helpful to one another rather than seeking to dominate and destroy each other. The stories have been tested on, and enjoyed by, many children in the 5 – 9 age range. From the stories the children are taught the values of empathy and co-operation. The author is a former teacher who spent more than twenty years teaching young children, not just to read, but to find the joy in reading and want to read. Her delightful stories create characters and situations which spark interest and imagination in the young listener and further their desire to want to read for themselves. The author’s simple illustrations resonate with the children and add interest and excitement to the text.
