Thom was the Chancellor of Stellenbosch University as well as the Chairman of Broederbond. He died in November 1983. The dust jacket is tanned and torn along the top edge, but it remains whole and intact in spite of this. The boards are edge worn but strong. Internally, there is some highlighting in the text and the bottom corners of a few of the pages have been ear-marked, but aside from this, the pages within are neat and complete.
