Revue de presse

"To exclaim that every day in every way things get better and better is not most people′s first reaction on taking a look round. There are a few stirring exceptions to this prevailing gloom, however, and surely none is more inspiring than The Year′s Work in English Studies ... published annually by Blackwell on behalf of the English Association. For here ... is a story of uninterrupted progress and improvement ... a conspectus of the whole history of English literature taken from the academic publications of a single year." Times Literary Supplement
