She is the author of Sadomasochism in Everyday Life: The Dynamics of Power and Powerlessness (1992) and High-Profile Crimes: When Legal Cases Become Social Causes (2005). Beverly Xaviera Watkins is Assistant Professor of Clinical Public Health at Columbia University.
