∗ revisions to Part K ′Protection from falling, collision and impact′ dealing with regulations on windows, skylights, ventilators and sliding or powered doors and gates
∗ new requirements of Part N ′Glazing′ on safe operation and access for cleaning for windows, skylights and ventilators
∗ new regulations under Part M extending accessibility requirements for disabled people to dwellings
∗ amendments to the Approved Document to support Regulation 7 on materials and workmanship.
The legal and administrative chapters have been completely rewritten to take account of the rapid expansion of the approved inspector system and amendments to the Building Act 1984. A new chapter summarises eighteen Acts of Parliament and statutory instruments that relate to building control.
