Synopsis

Gadolinium-DTPA, the first paramagnetic contrast agent available for magnetic resonance imaging, has added considerably to the information obtainable from MRI examination of the brain and spine. With the advent of improved hardware and software, contrast-enhanced MRI is now increasingly applied to other organ systems. This is an overview of Gadolinium-DTPA enhanced MRI of the body. The purpose of this monograph is to make information regarding whole-body applications of Gadolinium-DTPA available to radiologists and interested clinicians. Contributors from various fields review the basics of constrast-enhanced MRI, as well as the whole range of body applications. Chapters on different body regions define examination strategies, recommend specific sequences, review both normal and the most important pathologic MRI findingsm and give a selection of recommended review articles and original contributions.
