Synopsis

25 Great Guitar Solos by guitar author Chad Johnson is a rock guitar songbook for players who want to study influential lead guitar performances through accurate musical material and supporting context. Covering celebrated guitarists from Scotty Moore and Jeff Beck to Eddie Van Halen and Steve Vai, the collection combines 25 landmark solos with material exploring their playing, sound and place in rock guitar history.

The book contains 25 solo transcriptions presented with guitar tablature and standard notation, alongside lessons, guitarist biographies, equipment information, photographs and historical background. Online audio provides full-band demonstrations of every guitar solo in the collection, giving players a useful musical reference while reading and practising the transcriptions.

Bringing the solos together in one volume makes it possible to explore contrasting approaches to phrasing, technique and musical expression across different eras of rock guitar. The combination of written transcriptions, lessons and recorded demonstrations can support focused learning while keeping practice connected to complete, recognisable pieces of music.
