Synopsis

The books and software in this package provide information on over 1,000 species of tropical rainforest trees in Australia. The package contains a computer-based interactive key (both IBM and Macintosh), two manuals and a copy of the "Leaf Atlas of Australian Tropical Rainforest Trees". Trees can be identified using features from the stem, leaves, flowers, fruits, seedlings, family or geographic distribution. The first manual contains descriptions and illustrations of the features available, a glossary, and a list of species giving scientific names, common names and standard trade names. The second volume contains a short description of each species, a series of additional diagnostic features to aid identification, and comments on the distribution and ecology of the species. This package is aimed at bushwalkers, students, botanists, ecologists, foresters and paleobotanists.
