Synopsis

At the top of an enormous mountain is a dark and gloomy forest. In the dark and gloomy forest lives a monster who roars and growls and makes terrible noises. Raymund lives in a small village at the bottom of the enormous mountain. Raymund is scared of many things. But, most of all he is afraid of the night, and the monster that sends him running to hide under his bed. How will Raymund face his fear, discover what it means to have courage, and defeat the huge and hideous monster that smells like fish guts, rotten eggs and smelly feet?

Megan loves books that catapult her into space or lead her into strange and fantastic fantasy lands. As a child and teenager, if she could have combined reading from horseback while galloping along Mackay's beaches, or while mustering cattle in the Queensland outback she would have. These days she loves to write stories of monsters, aliens, and mind-blowing places. She loves to encourage children to read and write their own stories. Through sharing her own struggles with learning to read, and then discovering the wonderful world of books, Megan hopes to encourage children to read, and to create their own stories, even if for some it is difficult.

Since early childhood she has been an obsessive doodler. She still has old school reports with angry comments such as "it is impossible to read Ester's work as it is covered in scribbles!" This is still an issue (she now has beautifully illustrated bills!) but she has managed to harness it into something more constructive- illustrating picture books. Between illustrating for others, Ester is creating her own fantasy novel. It's a slow but steadily growing project in which she is able to inject every oddball and eccentric idea. She can't wait to finish the first complete draught and start illustrating.
