Another Song About Love opens in the burgeoning music scene of 1980s Melbourne, when Lillie Bloom and her friends, Wendy and Anna, form a rock band. It's a time when roles for women are undergoing great change and ideals of romantic love and the nuclear family are being challenged. Determined to find success in her chosen career, Lillie juggles her music career, her love life and being a mother to her son, Jesse. As the wheels of the music industry churn through her life, the love of friends and family, and especially her son, helps Lillie survive the rocky road of sex, drugs and rock and roll.
With the sexism of the global entertainment industry being questioned once again, and the #MeToo movement gaining international traction, Lillie Bloom's grit and determination is a timely testament to the strength and resilience women have needed in order to succeed in their chosen careers.
A collection of songs to accompany Another Song About Love is also available on CD or online through www.janieconwayherron.com. The book and the collection of songs bring Janie's creative worlds -music and writing-- together for the first time.

Novelist, poet, musician and songwriter, Janie Conway-Herron, comes from a well-known musical family. She was a founding member of popular 1970's feminist band Stiletto and along with her brothers Mic and Jim Conway she was part of that heady Australian artistic scene of 1970s and 80s and beyond, performing in numerous bands in inner city Melbourne and Sydney as well as touring nationally. After gaining her doctorate in Creative Writing at the University of Western Sydney Janie coordinated the writing program at Southern Cross University for many years. Her essays, poems and short stories have been published in a range of journals and anthologies and she has appeared at conferences and writers festivals in Australia as well overseas. Janie's first novel, Beneath the Grace of Clouds, was published in 2010. Since 2004 Janie has regularly conducted women's creative writing workshops with Burmese refugees for the NGO Altsean Burma. The resulting anthologies of refugee stories have been distributed internationally, and Janie's work with refugees has been recognised in Europe and South East Asia. Along with Timi Bell and Karen Connors, Janie is also a member of popular vocal harmony and rhythm-based trio Jatika who draw on myriad influences including folk, blues, jazz and country. No strangers to blockades, demonstrations and topical songwriting they are a classy act that couples environmental and humanist sensibilities with luscious three-part harmony. Janie has recorded a collection of songs to accompany the novel Another Song About Love. The book and the collection of songs bring Janie's creative worlds - music and writing - together for the first time.
