Dr. Ken Byrne has been in full-time independent practice asa corporate psychologist since 1979. His clients have rangedfrom large multinationals to small businesses. Over the last fortyyears, he has personally evaluated more than three thousand jobapplicants ranging from candidates for CEO and other senior executiveroles, middle management, technical roles and entry levelstaff.In the mid-1980s, Dr. Byrne became interested in the selectionchallenges faced by public safety groups, such as police, firebrigades, ambulance, corrective services, and other similar organizations.This led to his developing a personality questionnairedesigned specifically for public safety applicants. This allowed clientsto screen large groups of people and then to use an empiricallyderived formula to rate the level of risk each applicant posed.Candidates the agency decided to advance to interview were furtherscreened with a highly specialized series of interview tools.In about 2005, Dr. Byrne became interested in the screening ofpeople to work in aged care and disability services.
