The book takes seriously the teachings of the Christian traditions - from Old and New Testament - but asserts the limitations of these ancient sources, for example the limitations of their understandings of human origins, now vastly expanded thanks to the insights of cosmologists, geologists, evolutionists, geneticists and ecologists.

Jason John is an ordained minister of the Uniting Church in Australia. His studies in zoology and theology culminated in a doctorate exploring the connections between evolution, ecology, environmentalism and faith (http: //ecofaith.org). He has been happily single, unhappily single, married and divorced, and remarried with two children.
