Excerpt from Die Kirchhoff'sche Formel Über Schallgeschwindigkeit in Röhren: Inaugural Dissertation zur Erlangung der Doktorwürde bei der Hohen Philosophischen Fakultät der Rheinischen Friedrich-Wilhelm-Universität zu Bonn Vorgelegt und mit den Beigefügten Thesen Verteidigt am 18. Mai 1904

Paperback. Etat : New. Print on Demand. This book presents a groundbreaking investigation into the formula proposed by Helmholtz and Kirchhoff on the velocity of sound within enclosed spaces such as tubes and pipes. The author sets out to demonstrate that the formula requires revision on two important points: the effect of tube diameter and the effect of sound frequency. The author also presents strong evidence that the influential constant Y, believed to be fixed, in fact fluctuates. Originally derived from the heat theory, the author shows that Y cannot be calculated using current scientific knowledge. The experiments described in this book open up new avenues for understanding sound phenomena and have important implications for future research in acoustics.
