Paperback. Etat : New. Print on Demand. This book is a collection of 150-200 inscriptions, mostly found in and around Nîmes, France. The inscriptions are primarily dedications to gods and goddesses, but also include epitaphs, votive offerings, and other types of inscriptions related to the religious practices of the ancient inhabitants of the region. The inscriptions provide valuable insights into the religious beliefs and practices of the people of ancient Nîmes, as well as the broader context of Roman religion in the provinces. They cover a wide range of deities, from major gods like Jupiter and Mars to lesser-known local deities like Nemausus, the patron god of Nîmes. Some of the inscriptions are quite simple, while others are more elaborate and provide more detailed information about the dedicator and the circumstances surrounding the dedication. Collectively, these inscriptions form an important resource for understanding the religious life of Roman Nîmes and the role of religion in the daily lives of its inhabitants. This book is a reproduction of an important historical work, digitally reconstructed using state-of-the-art technology to preserve the original format. In rare cases, an imperfection in the original, such as a blemish or missing page, may be replicated in the book. print-on-demand item. N de rf. du vendeur 9780666747488_0
