After a terrorist disrupts a demonstration of a pre-release verion of the virtual reality game eXistenZ, a game that plugs directly into the player's nervous system, its inventor, Allegra Geller, and security guard Ted Pikul, escape into the landscape of middle America with the sole copy of the game.
While Allegra is anxious to determine the extent of the game's damage, Ted, who's out of his depth in this society of gamers and their ruthless and relentless enemies, is forced to rise to feats of heroism as the couple run into murder and sabotage at every turn. Finally finding a safe haven in the mountains at an abandoned ski chalet, Ted and Allegra are thrust into the game. As they find themselves dragged into a bewildering labyrinth of betrayal and death, they realise that they can no longer tell where reality ends and the game begins...

Biographie de l'auteur

John Luther Novak is the pen name of Christopher Priest. He has written ten novels and two collections of short stories under his own name. The Glamour won the 1988 Kurd Lasswitz Best Novel award and The Prestige won the 1995 World Fantasy Award, the 1995 James Tait Black Award for best novel and was shortlisted for the Arthur C. Clarke Award. He lives in Hastings with his wife and twin children.
