Synopsis

The intimate diaries of one of the most influential and controversial figures of our time are collected here. Pat Hackett was one of Warhol's closest confidantes for many years. With Warhol, she co-authored "Popism" and "Andy Warhol's Party Book" and wrote the screen play for the movie "Bad". Beginning in 1976, Andy Warhol would call up his diarist, Pat Hackett, and relate the events of the past 24 hours as well as the money he had spent. Filled with Warhol's impressions of and gossip about the rich and famous - from Mick Jagger and Jackie O. to Truman Capote, Madonna and Calvin Klein - the diaries provide a portrait of a celebrity that is alternately hilarious and disturbing. The diaries also offer an insider's view of what was happening in the art world of the 70s and 80s, with commentary on the work and personal lives of contemporary artists. Major events are recorded - the movies, crimes, books, politics, Hollywood and superstars.
