He has been implementing the IEEE standards systematically for the last 8 years to improve his clients' software development and validation processes. Mr. Schmidt's company, Software Engineering Services, Inc., uses the IEEE standards routinely for software development and validation projects, which they perform for clients in the medical device, pharmaceutical, and other industries. Mr. Schmidt also teaches computer science classes (including a class on the IEEE Software Engineering Standards) at UC Berkeley.
