Synopsis
"Nice" people want to be liked by everyone. They are afraid of offending, and adapt their behaviour to what they think other people want. Although they aim to please they feel compromised and badly treated a lot of the time. They find it hard to ask for what they really want and there are times when they do not even know what they want. This is the theory that this book suggests. It goes on to explore the techniques needed to help "nice" people choose a different ways of behaving, and put them back in control of their lives. Issues covered include boundary setting, status, dealing with uncomfortable feelings, slowing things down, role reversal, humour, agreement and levelling.
