Kenneth J. Hsü is Professor of Geology at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Zürich, a Foreign Associate of the U.S. National Academy, and a recipient of the Wollaston medal. His books include The Mediterranean Was a Desert: A Voyage of the Glomar Challenger (Princeton) and The Great Dying. Alfred G. Fischer is Professor of Geological Sciences Emeritus at the University of Southern California.
