Robert Pettit, author of the well-received column “Dogs Afield” published in a regional Washington newspaper, is well qualified to write the book Bird Dog Training and Problem Solving. Having won three National titles and trained countless pointing dogs that have won numerous championships, he for the first time divulges his secrets on how to train the ideal gun dog and avoid common mistakes. Robert now resides in Mexico where he spends his time writing, quail hunting, and helping other bird dog owners learn the finer points of training, while giving them lessons on how to handle and prevent problems with their hunting dogs. He’s currently under the tutelage of his school teacher wife, and is being trained on the proper procedure of cleaning his muddy boots before entering the house. According to him that may take a while!
