Dr. Michael Hardy is the principal author of the book with significant contributions by Dr. David Weiss, Robert Long, Barry Moore, Christopher Hardy and Scott Parker. Michael has served in executive roles in non-profit arts organizations in the United States and internationally for 40 years in addition to his consulting work and volunteer services to the field. He served as Director of the Institute of Outdoor Theatre from 2012-17, and continues to consult for organizations wishing to establish new theatres or deal with complex issues of existing ones. Dr. David Weiss designed or directed 15 outdoor dramas in addition to over 150 theatre design assignments. During his tenure as chair of the Theatre Department at the University of Virginia, David established a Master of Fine Arts program, saw to the planning and completion of a two-theatre home for the program. Robert Long, co-founder of Theatre Consultants Collaborative, has served as theatre consultant for over 300 theatre design and construction projects for over 35 years. Barry Moore has practiced as an Architectural Principal at Gensler since 1969, with professional experience in Theater and Performing Arts Facilities, Non-Profit Institutional, Educational and Private Development Projects. Chris Hardy RLA, CA, LEED AP ND, is a practicing landscape architect and senior associate with Sasaki Associates, in Watertown, Massachusetts. Previous to joining Sasaki, Chris worked at SWA Group San Francisco, and Mathews Nielsen Landscape Architects in New York City. Chris participates in the design community through teaching, service, and writing. From 1990 until his retirement in 2007, Scott Parker was the director of the Institute of Outdoor Drama, a national advisory and research agency at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill which served 110 outdoor theatres in 37 states (historical dramas, Shakespeare festivals, religious dramas), and 30 communities across the country developing new outdoor theatres.
