9780692234099: The Glass Table

Synopsis

Marcia Block, a junior high school math teacher, has fallen through a glass table and bled to death on the kitchen floor. Her husband, Ron Block, a successful Chicago lawyer, and daughter Lauren, a New Trier High School senior, report that, although they were both at home, they didn’t see it happen. The Glencoe police believe it was a terrible accident. Then Ron meets Susie Steinmetz, whose husband Joel, a pest control specialist, is suffering through chemotherapy, and an unlikely new relationship develops. Meanwhile, prosecutor Meredith Bennett struggles with her feelings for her ex-husband, Dr. Alexander Bennett, as he attempts to repair his marriage to his young wife, Shawna. As the seasons go around, through a funeral, New Trier graduation, a Bat Mitzvah, and more, these three families face questions of life and death, accident – and murder.
