À propos de l'auteur

Amanda Riccetti is currently the director and owner of Big City Montessori School in San Francisco, California. She has been with BCMS since 1980. Before taking over as director and owner, Amanda spent many years as a teacher, working hands-on with countless generations of children in the preschool program. Amanda is also the proud mother of two children, Robert and Jenni, and a wife to her husband, Frank.

During Amanda’s years with the school, many parents have sought her guidance and support while raising their children. This has inspired her to write a series of children’s books to serve as guidelines for parents and models for their children. Amanda’s goal for this series is twofold—to give parents a tool to teach their children valuable lessons, and to give them quick tips to guide their children through the preschool years.

In this series, Amanda uses a larger vocabulary than is used in the average children’s book. This is intended to encourage parents to slow down, explain words, and broaden their children’s vocabulary. Please read this book one page at a time. Stop to discuss each page, to help your child understand the lesson and connect with Max. Let your child enjoy the beautiful illustrations and find the baby bird that follows along with Max on his preschool journey.

The illustrations in this series are done in a realistic style, not a cartoon style. Amanda strongly feels that this is more respectful to children and gives the story a practical, real-life quality. Amanda would like to thank Taryn Dufault for these wonderful illustrations, which have truly brought Max’s world to life!
