Sustainability can be defined as everyone doing their part to better the community because that is how lasting sustainability is implemented. Everyone Needs Sustainability describes community service as a means of sustainability. The more people get involved in helping the community, the more sustainable it will be. People to people outreach to the community helps us while we help others. It's a win win. Communities are not sustainable long-term if those who give back are outnumbered by those who do not. By becoming part of the solution, people help create a better future for everyone in their community.

Ted Schierer is the content author of Everyone Needs Sustainability, T2D/H2 coaching program for type 2 diabetes, JETT Photography, and JETT's instrumental album, Tunnel Hill. After 10 years as a USDA biologist, he left in February 2014 to start JETT, a business dedicated to community service as a means of sustainability. Previously, he attended Iowa State University for his undergraduate degree (ecology) and Ph.D. (molecular biology). JETT creates awareness about priority community sustainability issues such as healthcare and welfare. JETT has developed a coaching program for reversal and management of type 2 diabetes. JETT Radio is one the sustainability networking tools JETT uses to connect with other organizations and promote their work. JETT also networks through books, music, and photography. Music and the arts are widely accepted media that carry the message of sustainability into new places. JETT helps other organizations adjust their existing vision and goals to impact sustainability.
