R. Barry King holds a BS Degree in Microbiology, an MS in Environmental Biology and Marine Ecology, and PhD in Archaeology of the Ancient Near East with emphasis on paleodiet of the Eastern Mediterranean. Before his retirement from academia in 2012, he was senior faculty in the Environmental Health and Safety Program at Central New Mexico Community College and taught biotechnology in the Graduate School of Engineering at the University of New Mexico where he remains on Adjunct Faculty. Prior to his academic career, he was a Senior Scientist on staff at International Technology Corporation doing environmental consulting for the U.S. Dept. of Energy on the nation’s nuclear waste repositories. He has managed the Water Quality Laboratory at EPA’s National Environmental Research Center/Environmental Monitoring Support Laboratory, Las Vegas working on the National Eutrophication Survey where he participated in the reclamation of Lake Tahoe. He has served as a Special Consultant on many DOE National Expert Panels. He lives, works and writes in Albuquerque, New Mexico.
