In MIDNIGHT FIREFLIES, Doherty has reached a maturity few poets ever attain; it is a maturity based on truth, on passion, on clearness of vision, on clean language. Poem after poem in this astonishing book carries the reader into a delicate world of surprise and acceptance. I say Bravo! Alvaro Cardona-Hine

A Canadian by birth, Megan M. Doherty came to the United States before her 10th birthday. She enjoys wearing many hats due to her curiosity about life and diversified background. As a peace activist for women and the homeless, she was heavily involved in the Anti-War Movement as the wife of a West Coast 'beat' poet in the late '70s. She has assisted in the production of literary magazines; is a published poet; Director of Creative Affairs and story editor in the Motion Picture Industry. Additionally, as a member of Tebot Bach's Poetry and Healing Committee, she brought creative writing workshops to homeless shelters in Orange County. No newcomer to poetry, her cohesive world view has been integrated into her life. In both her first book 'Transitive Woman,' a creative non-fiction memoir as well as MIDNIGHT FIREFLIES her latest book of poetry, Doherty presents us with her unique look at human frailty and strength. In 2014, she was chosen as a featured author at the AAUW 27th Laguna Beach Festival of Women Authors at the Literary Luncheon. She resides in Southern California
