Synopsis

Natale’s Gift describes exploits peculiar to the life of the mind, which to some might seem improbable. The pedant will mock the notion of a psychologist entering his patient’s dreams: “Telepathy is a myth, and scientifically impossible!” Yet it happens, and everyone can relate a personal example. The skeptic will cock a cynical eye at the likelihood of a person obtaining a notebook that gives him perfect advice, written by an unseen hand. Yet guidance is always within reach to those who want it and stand unafraid to act on it. The philistine will sneer at the portrayal of a middle-aged professional who abandons his position to search for enlightenment, wandering materialism’s back roads moved only by trust in his new and mysterious lover. Yet idealists have known for twenty-five hundred years that the world is nothing but an empty threat, immortality is proved by the existence of ideas, and those who dwell in the realm of thought--the human imagination--are Magi, clairvoyants who know how to read the night sky, discern their guiding star and follow it to the precincts of real life on earth. To one such as these comes Natale’s gift.
