This 420-page book contains Wang’s essays, conversations, speeches, and interviews published from 2012 to 2017 in China Insight, the exclusive English-language American newspaper on US-China relations; and on Legal Current, an official blog of the Legal businesses of Thomson Reuters, as well as several longer art essays and law review articles. The topics of the articles range from constitutional law, Chinese law, to contemporary art and film, and diversity & inclusion. For the past decades, Wang travels between different time zones and parallel from East Asia to North America, to Western Europe. Wang believes he inhabits simultaneously in parallel law, business, and the arts. Born in Mao’s China, trained as an artist in Beijing’s cultural renaissance, studied law and admitted into law practice in the US, Wang has first-hand experience in 1984 style alternative reality and have also witnessed unprecedented challenges to the universal values and common sense. Wang realizes that even the most self-evident truths have been and are being distorted and manipulated, so he chose America as his homeland; Wang realizes that even the most unalienable rights can be exploited and deprived, so he swore to uphold the U.S. Constitution and to defend the rule of law. In the book, Wang “I consider myself most fortunate to be able to appreciate the beauty of the Chinese language and culture. At the same time, I am able to function in the American system of justice and fundamental fairness. I feel obligated to serve as a bridge between these two I am a lineal descendant of Chinese arts and intellectual tradition, and, at the same time, I am a zealous advocate for the democratic values, equal protection, and due process of the American system. In fact, there are only two things can bring me close to Chinese literature and American law.”
